Bar suSU – On The Rocks

suSU has come up with an ice cold reaction to the hot weather… ‘On The Rocks’ is a new twist on the successful baR suSU series ….a brand new cocktail of laid back relaxed Soul, Jazz and House grooves.

The result is an atmospheric leftfield collection of varied musical moods and the most eclectic suSU release yet.

Being baR suSU, the selection on offer is typically sumptuous and ingrained with quality. Every track is an absolute gem, making this anything but yet another compilation.

Serve chilled …and make mine a double. With ice please.

Octave One – The Theory Of Everything

Long standing Detroit Techno dons, they have gone way beyond the genre with their much anticipated album……

‘The Theory Of Everything’ which as befits the title, takes the listener on a journey of genre defying urban electronic music incorporating elements of underground dance, urban jams, uber raps, dramatic orchestration and soul drenched melodies.

The epic ‘Blackwater’ is one of the most spine tingling techno anthems ever…and the response from it meant Lenny and Lawrence Burden wanted to make sure the follow up album kept to the same superlative standard.

With Octave One always expect the unexpected…..This is not an album full of ‘Blackwater’ clones, though the swirling ‘Somedays’ – another collaboration with Ann Saunderson – connects the same dance floor filler with emotion and intelligence dots.

But as demonstrated by the debut single the urban-techno nugget re-defining ‘Bout To Blow’ – straight out of 8 Mile in D-Town – there’s a lot more going on.

Rosie Gaines – Welcome To My World

Rosie Gaines is adored as one of the great contemporary Soul diva’s. Her work with Prince took her to centre stage and gained global recognition. Whist her hit by mistake – the speed garage remix of ‘Closer Than Close’ – done after Motown had given up on the track – helped define a genre and got the E-generation dosing on her brand of Soul.

A series of accomplished recordings over the last 20 years have propelled Rosie to undisputed queen of the modern soul scene, and what better way to represent such majestic talent than with an album of 12 inspiring soul classics from the woman herself.
